Oscar Noms: Does Being Male Really Matter?

From www.IMDb.com

Apparently yes!  Sudip Mathew, writing from Paris, just reminded me that in ’03, AMPAS nominated “Donald Kaufman” for a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar, to be shared with “his brother” Charlie. Now, of course, this was an inside joke.  “Donald” was the fictional alter ego Charlie created in his Adaptation screenplay.  (Feminists may well remember that “Donald” was always scoring while Charlie had to content himself with endless masturbation.  Feh!)

But Sudip asks a great question: IF THEY COULD NOMINATE A FICTITIOUS CHARACTER, WHY NOT A LADY CO-DIRECTOR?

His question.  His caps.  My thanks!
