Fifth annual “If I Ruled the World” presentation @ Harold Washington College in which I begin a new March (aka Women’s History Month) with a critique of February’s Oscars.

This year, in addition to more nominations for Winter’s Bone (including Best Director!), I would have nominated Conviction in the Best Supporting Actor category (Sam Rockwell) & the Best Supporting Actress category (Ari Graynor), Please Give in the Best Original Screenplay category, The Runaways in the Best Supporting Actor category (Michael Shannon), & The Wedding Song in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
These are some of the 2010 releases written &/or directed by women filmmakers that would have been recognized by AMPAS “if I ruled the world.”
