How many of the following films have YOU actually seen this year: BRIGHT STAR, AN EDUCATION, THE HURT LOCKER, JENNIFER’S BODY, JULIE & JULIA, SUNSHINE CLEANING??? Alas, people are responding to Tony Scott’s appalling article with the same old bunk. The movies are out there, ladies—but what’s missing is the audience. Until WE decide we are going to put our money where our mouths are, it’s a lost cause. Women filmmakers are doing their part, now WE must do ours. In the words of Martha Lauzen: “If we change media messages, we change the world.” So let’s do it, because right now, the fault is not in our stars but in ourselves!
